International Week 2019
TPU International week 2019 is the first international seminar for representatives of international offices and representatives of European, Chinese and Russian universities. The aim of this event is to deepen insights, to expand fruitful networking and to make new acquaintances for everyone involved. “Discover Russia” is the theme of the International Week. Another aim of the Week is to meet with representatives of international offices of universities of Russia, Europe and China to introduce the system of Russian higher education and Russian universities for improving effectiveness of international cooperation.
Tomsk is one of the oldest cities in Siberia called “a city of students”, since every 8th citizen of Tomsk studies at university. TPU International Week 2019 is a unique opportunity to bridge international offices of Europe and Asia for successful cooperation within universities and countries.
All foreign participants are required to obtain a visa to enter Russia. Information on applying for visa to Russia in your country may be found on the VFS Global website. Please select “Russia” in “Visiting Country” line and your country in “Applying from” line from the left side of the website.
Tomsk Polytechnic University will provide a visa support document (official visa invitation) for all International Week 2019 participants and accompanying persons / fellow passengers who need one.
Please be aware that in accordance with Russian migration rules, Seminar’s participants need to hold the HUMANITARIAN VISA.
It is strongly prohibited for Touristic visa holders to visit and participate in Seminar sessions. According to Russian Migration law the passport should be valid 6 months further after the visa expiry date. For humanitarian visa, passport should not expire earlier than 18 months since the visa entry date.

Local currency in Russia is ruble. If you need to change money, this can be done only in banks. However, you may also pay with your regular bankcard at any store or restaurant in Tomsk. Please, remember to notify your local bank about your trip to Russia in advance to avoid blockage of your account.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING

Local transport: the backbone of public transport within Tomsk is buses, trolleybuses and trams. Tickets can be purchased from a driver (buses) or cashier (trolleybuses and trams) on board. A ticket price is fixed per trip and makes 21 RUB for trolleybuses and 21 RUB for buses. To find out how you can get to your destination point, you can use Google maps or 2Gis maps.
All costs including transportation, accomodation, visa, medical insuarance, meal are to be born by the participants. There is no need to pay any fees for participation.

Tomsk Technological Institute (currently Tomsk Polytechnic University) was founded in 1896 by Emperor Nicholas II.
